Burnt Store Isles

Burnt Store Isles (BSI) is a wonderful waterfront community very similar to Punta Gorda Isles in many ways, on a much smaller scale. It has its own golf club, Twin Isles Country Club, within its boundaries and homes are located either on the golf course or on canals with access to Charlotte Harbor and beyond. It is slightly newer than PGI with a little over 1,000 canal front lots and 400 golf course lots, most with homes built on them, some still vacant. Boating access to Charlotte Harbor is via Alligator Creek, a natural creek. Similar to PGI, the Burnt Store Isles properties are part of the City of Punta Gorda’s Canal Maintenance System and the sea walls are maintained by the City. There is a balanced mix of condominiums, villas and single family homes. The homes are mostly custom built and range from modest bungalow style to upscale homes with many amenities and beautifully landscaped grounds. Curved streets, ample sized lots and deed restrictions are the most outstanding characteristics of Burnt Store Isles. If you want a quick access to the harbor though, you are better off in Punta Gorda Isles as the outlet through Alligator Creek is a 20 minute ride in addition to the time it will take you to cruise from your home to the Alligator Creek access.
BSI has a voluntary property owners association called the Burnt Store Isles Association or BSIA. The association serves to protect the common interests of the property owners, coordinate group and social activities for the owners and promote the continual improvement and preservation of property values through maintenance of the common areas.

Being a waterfront community, BSI has a high number of boaters in residence. The Burnt Store Isles Boat Club (BSIBC) was started in 1989 and membership is open to all BSI residents. Boat ownership is not required. Part of the motivation in forming the club was to promote safe boating and provide marine education. The club activities are primarily social in nature, usually focusing on activities on or near the water. Cruises to local waterfront restaurants, the barrier islands for picnics, overnight cruising to area resorts, or just cruising the harbor!

Of course, the golfers have their club as well! Twin Isles Country Club is a semi-private club located within BSI. They have Tennis, Golf, and Social memberships available. There is an active professional staff and a full dining room available on the premises.
